Jon Kyte 2026 WSOPE Poker Diary

JON KYTE POKER

KKPoker ambassador Jon Kyte travelled to Prague for the World Series of Poker Europe event!

With over $3.7M in recorded live poker tournament cashes, Jon has played in many locations, but Prague is where he earned his biggest prize: €643,000 in 2023, when he finished second in the PokerStars EPT Main Event.

Jon has also won a Nordic Poker Championship title in Prague and finished 4th for €131,900 in the Eureka Main Event.

So, could Jon once again leave Prague with a big poker profit?!

Jon documented his poker tournament adventures via his social media accounts and you can see it all here on the KKPoker website. Be sure to follow Jon for his future trips!

Day 1: Travelling Day!

I left Vienna at 9am, and after a few delays along the way, I finally arrived in Prague at 2pm, ready to play WSOP Europe.

After checking in at the Hilton — which is also the tournament venue — I headed straight into the €3,300 PLO / PLO8 / Big O event. It felt great to get started right away.

I found myself at the same table as WSOP Main Event winner Michael Mizrachi, which made for an interesting opening session. Unfortunately, I lost a 120k pot all-in against Martin Kabrhel in PLO with KKT4 versus J652, which ended my first bullet.

On my second bullet, Martin doubled me up in a key PLO hand, giving me momentum. I then climbed up to three starting stacks, building a strong position in the tournament.

However, things took a turn in a Blind vs Blind spot in Big O. I had bottom two pair, an open-ender, and a low draw, but my opponent held top two pair and a better low draw, and I was eliminated.

Day 2: €1,100 Mystery Bounty

I started the day with a walk to my favourite Vietnamese coffee shop to reset and get ready for another long session. After that, I jumped into the €1,100 Mystery Bounty event, feeling ready to build a stack.

On my first bullet, Daniele Sacchi hit a king on the river to score a double knockout. It was AK versus 99 (Me) versus 77 on a board of Q-3-2-2-K, and I had entered the hand with 60k after starting the tournament with 40k. The hand was later captured and shared on WSOP social media.

In total, it took eight bullets.

Day 3: €565 Colossus

After a walk for breakfast, I jumped into the €565 Colossus, ready for another long grind.

Early on, I opened AK under the gun and got action. I bet 5k on A♦️ J♣️ 4♦️, received one call, and then faced a raise to 16k from the hijack. Both players in the blinds folded. On the turn, 6♥️, I checked and faced an all-in. I decided to fold.

There was then another tough spot which resulted in me having to make a river fold.

I busted that bullet in two key hands — first AT versus AQ, and then K6 of hearts versus TT on a 9-7-5 with two hearts flop, followed by 4♣️ and 5♣️.

On my second bullet, I ran A7 into AQ and couldn’t find a way through.

On my third bullet, I held J9 of spades against Q10 of hearts on a Q-9-8 double-suited flop. The turn came 5♠️ and the river J♣️, but it wasn’t enough.

On my fourth bullet, the frustration started to build. I kept thinking, “When will these days end?” I had to go up and down the venue to re-register and even ended up playing in the overflow room.

In one hand, the CO opened and I defended the Big Blind with 86 of diamonds. The flop came 8-5-4 rainbow with one diamond. I led for 6k into a pot of about 28k, and my opponent shoved for 50k. I called. He showed 94 for bottom pair, but a 4 on the river ended my run in that bullet.

5th bullet:

There was an open from early position, a call on the button, and I defended the big blind with Q10. The flop came A-J-9. The opener continued for half pot, the button called, and I moved all in.

There was 24k in the pot at the time. The opener had 34k behind and the button had 40k. The early-position player showed J9 off. There was a Ten on the Turn, but the River bricked.

Later, I lost the rest of that stack against the same opponent when my 66 ran into QQ, and I couldn’t recover.

Next Bullet:

On my next bullet, I picked up J8 suited on the button and 3-bet a hijack open. My opponent called. The flop came Q-8-5 with a flush draw, and I moved all in. He called with KQ, and I couldn’t improve.

After that, I ran A7 suited into 99 and didn’t get there.

On my final bullet, I lost a Blind V Blind pot holding K2 against K6, which left me with just one chip. I managed to survive briefly, but shortly after I busted K4 against A7.

That brought the day to an end.

Day 4: €565 PLOSSUS

After an early first-bullet exit, I re-entered and managed to secure my first bounty.

I picked up QQJ7 against QJ95 on a Q-J-4 flop and came out on top, which got me on the board.

Then came a big hand.

I had a nice dinner break with friends and went for Korean chicken, which was a great reset away from the tables. Unfortunately, when I got back to the action, my chips had gone down since.

Day 5: €565 PLOSSUS

I started the day with a falafel plate and a coffee nearby before heading back to the venue for Day 2, with 167 players remaining out of 1,120.

On the dinner break, I used the TV table as an opportunity to watch some of the hands my opponents had played, trying to pick up extra information and edges where I could.

I noticed Roberto Romanello had cold 4-bet from the button with 86 suited, which stood out.

Shortly after, I found myself in a hand against him. After an open from a loose player, I flatted ATo and the button also called. Roberto then squeezed from the big blind to a similar sizing. The early position opener folded, and I moved all in, using my reads and taking a slightly non-standard line. This time, though, Roberto had QQ, and I couldn’t get there.

Day 6: WSOPE Main Event

I started the day with a nice hotel breakfast before heading into Main Event Day 1C. Having busted the day before, I also had a 10% chance at a free entry, which added a bit of extra interest to the start of the day.

Day 7: Main Event D2 + Monster Stack

I started the day with a workout with my roommate Mats before we headed down to the breakfast buffet. Main Event Day 2 was then delayed by 30 minutes, giving a slightly slower start to the day than expected.

Jeff Madsen opened from early position, and I jammed the button for 13BB with KQ offsuit. He called with TT. The flop came king on the window, giving me top pair, but the turn brought a ten and I couldn’t improve.

That ended my Main Event run. I late-registered the Monster Stack about four hours into Day 1.

Day 8: Monster Stack D2

I won several post-flop pots to maintain my stack as the field started to thin out, but I also lost a number of key flips along the way.

It was a very frustrating day overall. As everyone got increasingly shallow, the spots just became high-variance, and when you’re not winning those flips at that stage, there’s not much you can do.

Next up was the €2,750 Rounders Cup, where we play against all the Europeans, while the rest of the world faces them separately, before the field mixes on Day 2.

I late-registered with 16BB but quickly ran QQ into AA and couldn’t get anything going.

After that, I joined the €800 bounty side event.

On the bubble, I was just relaxing with football on in the background while watching several players get all-in and try to survive.

It was a tense phase of the tournament with constant all-ins across tables, and every decision felt like it mattered as the field tightened up.

Day 9: Super High Roller

I started the day with breakfast with the boys, then spent some time chilling at the restaurant before we jumped into the highest buy-in event of WSOP Europe — the €20,800 Super High Roller.

I bagged and moved on to Day 2, sitting 20th out of 60 players with 57BB.

Final Days in Prague

Day 11

This was the last day of poker. I played the €1,100 Bomb Pot and the Closer Bounty, but it just wasn’t my day — no luck and no runs. GG Prague.

Day 12

Travel day to Malta. I flew private with some good friends, heading out after the series.

Next stop is Cyprus for some play before taking a short break ahead of WSOP!
